By Karen Meyer

Synthetic grass refers to a man-made surface made from artificial materials. It is made to resemble natural grass. Since it is made like grass, it is intended to be used on arenas for sports that are played on grass surfaces. The initial reason for the invention of this product was for it to be used on sports arenas, but that has gradually changed because it is now being used on commercial and residential applications. When in search of Artificial Turf Santa Barbara should be given priority.

Artificial grass was invented by a man by the name David Chaney. He invented the turf in 1960 by directing a group of individuals to pioneer the production of the new product. Synthetic grass first became famous in 1965 when it was fitted in the then new astrodome in the US states of Texas. There was an exponential growth in the utilization of the grass in the 1970s with the grass being utilized in both outdoor and indoor stadia.

The adoption of these products was motivated by several different reasons. One of these reasons is that it is easy to maintain. Maintaining real grass in certain places can be really hard, especially in places where rainfall is insufficient. Also, maintenance is very hard in fields that need to be used quite often. Natural grass cannot withstand heavy use on a regular basis.

Natural grass usually needs a few weeks to recover from heavy use. In some playgrounds, such amount of time was not available. The fields needed to be put to use frequently and repetitively. As a result, artificial grass solved this problem a lot because it does not need to stay for some day to recover. In fact, the product can be put to use every day without any problem.

In 1990s, this is when heavy migration from use of real grass to fake one in commercial and residential applications began to occur. It was during this time that individuals commenced appreciating application of synthetic turf not only on golf courses but also corporate and residential landscaping too. Most firms have put in effort to make this product popular for commercial and residential applications. Currently, the application in residential places is widespread just like the application in sports arenas.

For holiday residences, synthetic grass is very critical. In many instances, because the homes are not frequently used, they are not cared for. To this effect it is largely impractical to grow real grass. As a result, synthetic grass is the best alternative that homeowners have. Synthetic grass is perfect for aged homeowners that are unable to care for their real lawns in addition to being perfect for holiday residences.

The feeling of stepping on fresh grass is always refreshing. Swimming pools are often surrounded with concrete, pavements or some other materials. As such, it is impractical to plant natural grass around them. Having natural grass around swimming pools may also cause dirt to enter the water. To avoid this problem, artificial grass can be installed on the ground around the pool.

Finally, artificial turf is cost effective in the longer term. This is attributed to the easy maintenance it comes with. As such, installing it is a great idea. The combination of low maintenance and longevity render faux grass ideal for industrial, commercial and residential applications.
